Will I ever have sex again? 1 by cx61 A friend seems to be having a bad Valentine's day! Once I stopped giggling, I ran the chart, and started laughing again. I'm using a horary screen that includes Arabic Parts. I know most of these planets are not pertinent to a horary interpretation, but still . . . Sun opp Part of Intercourse Venus opp Part of Sex Neptune opp Part of Intercourse Chiron opp Part of Intercourse Asc conj Part of Sex Even though I'm not following the usual parameters, I would tend to think this chart is valid! First problem is which house to use. The question was "Will I ever have sex again and, if so, when?" At first glance I would use the 5th house which deals with "recreational sex". However, I know that that is not what she meant. This is someone who is looking for a long term relationship and is not interested in casual encounters. So at this point I am already confused - 5th or 7th? I'm trying both just to see what shows up, but could really use some guidance here. Her significator is Mercury which is in the 5th with Moon in the 7th, so definitely showing an emphasis in her mind on some sort of relationship. (Interestingly, the Antiscia of Mercury is within a degree of my friend's natal Sun.) If this is a 5th house question then the planet of the quesited is Saturn. Saturn is in the 2nd and retrograde with both significators having moved beyond it so there is no applying aspect there. However, Mercury is ruled by Saturn and Saturn has Mercury in triplicity, so I think that could be indicative of a positive answer. However, a positive answer by mutual reception leaves me clueless as to how to establish timing - the only thing I know how to do is look for the length of time to perfection of an aspect. If this should be read as a 7th house question then the planet of the quesited becomes Jupiter which is in the 7th with the Moon just leaving a conjunction. In this case, the Moon is ruled by Jupiter and Jupiter has the Moon in triplicity. So once again I'm left with a mutual reception between two of the significators, but no clear way (in my mind) of determining timing. I have also just noticed that by horary considerations the Moon is actually Void of Course - perhaps explaining my general level of confusion. Comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 2 by pankajdubey You missed one Arabic Part (7th lord-VII) + VII = Part of giggling Astrologer. PD Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 3:55 am
3 by epurdue I'm inclined to keep it as close to the question as possible, so I'd use the 5th. The 5th is sex in general, not just "recreational sex". Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:03 am
4 by dr. farr As Mithras remarked, relevant house is the 5th; condition of the Moon is important (benefic connections with Venus + Jupiter); answer to question = Yes (Part of Fortune in 1st, disposited by Mercury, free from malefic connections); when? within either 6 days or 6 weeks (profection of Part of Fortune to its indicator/dispositor, Mercury) (could be as long as 6 months but I doubt this) Reliability of prognostication: medium (due to VOC lunar situation) Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:54 am
5 by Olivia The Moon is still partile with Jupiter - some traditional astrologers take it not to be void until it's separated from the degree of the conjunction. For this lady's sake, let's hope that proves the case here! Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:46 am
6 by Tanit I had to giggle a bit too, especially with Virgo "The Virgin" rising. I don't usually let it be VOC if it's in Pisces, sign of Jupiter. Perhaps she has already met the man that she will next be with though? Jupiter has already met up with the Moon and receives it, also likely giving it some strength, in such a tight partile conjunction no less. The angles sometimes have a say, and the DSC is closely applying to Venus, Jupiter and Moon, which could be a unit of a few months (mutable sign). Jupiter in Pisces might describe the person. Though, her being so focused in the 7th may just show her wants vs. the reality of the situation. Pisces is pretty unrealistic/dreamy! Saturn influences tend to show delays in things, so Mercury/5th ruler in a sign of Saturn, in mutual reception, is probably showing it may be a while. Saturn/Mercury trine the MC. Has she dated a coworker? Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 5:49 am

Tanit wrote:I had to giggle a bit too, especially with Virgo "The Virgin" rising. I'm actually not at all surprised to see this- Horary charts are often surprisingly descriptive of the Querent's position in the situation and can offer a great insight into their current shape and state of mind , not only their general characteristic. Natal charts can't do that which is why I am ever fascinated with Horary. If the Querent tells a lie, the chart will reveal the truth. The relevant cusps and the Ascendant in particular can actually be descriptive of the reasons sort of speaking. Throughout the last year, I've seen many charts cast for romantic question with Virgo rising and each time the Querent had been single for quite some time and was already a bit desperate about the whole situation. Just some examples: Ascendant ruled by Saturn; Saturn inside the 7th, in Virgo and L7 inside the10th. The Querent, a female, somewhat older than the Quesited (Saturn) has been single for 12 years (Virgo) and is now completely smitten with the Querent (inside his 7th). She even said that she felt as though she was becoming a virgin for the second time in her life. Another example is a chart cast for a question of a woman who, by the time she visited the Astrologer, had become 100% that her husband was having an affair- their rulers were conjunct in the rulership of Gemini, inside the 4th : he was the head of a huge buss station- Mercury, married to his work-his derived 10th, conjunct her ruler- faithfull to her but, as his derived 10th is the radical 4th- she wanted him to spend more time in their home with her. Being unemployed herself, she felt bored most of time. So, her husband was at work described by Mercury (buss-station), not with another woman. In this particular case, the Querent is single, she wants sex because she currently doesn't have sexual life and so she gets Virgo Ascendant- she is a "virgin" at the moment- no sexual activities. Now, as for the Quesited, we obviously do have a fifth house matter here; if she is interested in her sexual life, than the Quesited, at least initially, goes to that house. But, on the other hand, unless she is interested in having sex with just about anyone (which i hardly doubt because, after all, she would have never asked this question if it were so ), then she actually wants someone to have sex with. I think that it is very obvious from this chart what her true wish is ; the Moon (even Venus) placed inside the 7th is clearly pinpointing the area of her biggest concern. She wants a man-to have sex with. She wants a romantic relationship that includes sex among other activities - I think that she'd be far happier in a warm relationship without sex (not that it is likely that she will have one ) than in a sexual affair without emotions. But, seeing this Moon tightly conjunct the ruler of the 7th, i wonder if there was anyone in particular that she actually had in mind. There are many separating aspects in this charts and the orbs are rather small which would certainly make me ask the Querent if anything special and concerning this situation or her romantic life in general has happened recently and see if any of the orbs fit the real time- that is also the best way to determine the expected time units. We have the Moon that has recently started separating from L7 inside the 7th, we have her ruler, Mercury, recently separating from its dispositor, Saturn and from the opposition with Mars- both planets are currently retrograde and these past aspects have doubtfully caused nice feeling and seeing the Moon recently separated from a conjunction with the Sun near the 7th cusp we do have more than one indication of some turbulences which is why I think that these positions should be examined first. because, if there indeed is someone in particular that the Querent had in mind (i.e., if the underlying question was "Will I have sex with HIM again?" regardless of how she formed it), then the quantity of separating aspects and the Moon's current empty walk should be taken with more caution as they might be saying more about a very specific relationship or situation. That, at least, is my main impression. At the same time, her ruler separating from Saturn and the Moon VOC could be descriptive of her past and of another period of stillness but note that this Venus sitting on the 7th cusp is actually the dispositor of Saturn. I don't really think that this chart is all that bad but I do strongly believe that it is moredescriptive of her past and her current approach to life then of her sexual life for the rest of her life! Besides, her cadent ruler is obviously suggesting that, at the moment, she does not have much influence onto the situation which could be causing the desperation. Her Venus (both her femininity and the natural ruler of romance) is somewhat damaged by the presence of the Sun near the cusp of the 7th. The two planets are on different sides of the sign boundary but I would take this an indication of her her currently strong urge to find a "mate". Since the 7th and the 8th share the ruler, this Jupiter inside the 7th is also a potential sign of the quality of her feelings and is maybe suggesting that she is currently seeing her romantic life through a very dark veil - I do believe that she was desperate to sa certain extent at the time of the Question, especially since the Moon touches that planet by body. Also, the Sun, the planet that is "heating" the cusp of the 7th and burning the relevant planets placed inside the 7th is coming from the 12th- her femininity or, at least her perception of her own femininity (Venus) is burdened by her solitude and she wants a way out and into a relationship (7th). She wants a man. But, it's the prince charming that she is after, not just a casual sexual affair, in my opinion.. Having said that, if there is someone special in her life (or, in better words in her heart), that person, represented by a very strong Jupiter could be a sign of a self-centered person who doesn't really share her feelings. this planet is actually extremely strong as it is placed inside the house that it rules, it is in its own sign and angular. But, on the other hand- such a ruler is a perfect example of an ideal partner which could be the reflection of her wishes in which case, i am not sure as to how realistic her wishes are. She was thinking of an ideal partner. Or thinking of someone for whom she thinks is her ideal partner- beautiful, wealthy, gallant and down to earth. 8 by cor scorpii Although this Jupiter is strong essentially, it is nevertheless in it weakest phase according to its position relative to the Sun, by being occidental, under the Sun's beams and about to enter combustion. It is also out of sect in a nocturnal chart, above the horizon separated from its sect luminary, and in an occidental(female) quadrant of the chart. When all these factors are taken into account, we may conclude that his significations, though promising at the first glance(essentially dignified, joined to a highly dignified Venus) can not entirely live up to their promise. Everything that Jupiter might signify here is in its final, waning phase which suggests that the major shift/ending is about to occur in the querent's love/sexual life. I don't think this chart shows she'll never have sex again but it certainly presages a period of stagnation, being clearly shown by the separating aspect of Moon/Jupiter. When the Moon truly separates from him, it will be void of course(though I sincerely hope it will be able to perform somewhat, as Mr. Lilly points out, for the sake of the querent!). Mercury doesn't behold the ascending sign and is in the 6th, which means the querent is stuck in the unpleasant situation and is unable to steer her ship according to her own wishes/plans. Mercury is disposed by retrograde Saturn, so delays and restrictions are to be reckoned with - a protracted period of loneliness/isolation is probable, especially because Saturn rules the 5th. Mercury also doesn't apply to any other planet as long as it is in Aquarius. On the positive side, there's the north node in the 5th, and the Moon is waxing in Pisces, a fertile sign, although she is still pretty weakened by being under the rays of the Sun. I'd expect to see some positive changes in the querent's love life when the Moon is 17 degrees away from the Sun - so 7 weeks/months?(all other factors of establishing a reliable timing to this chart being absent, or is it just that I don't see them ) Since both rulers of the querent have to change signs in order to 'meet' some other planet, and the first planet that joins Mercury will be Jupiter, I'd judge that she'll have to wait for the following year to start her next relationship. 9 by Olivia Now my turn to start an inadvertent controversy. Because my own experience on this one is about 50/50. Does a planet in its own dignity indeed get completely crisped by combustion? My understanding is that the Greeks saw such a planet as in its own canopied (read: protected from the sun's rays) chariot. Again - I've seen charts where that does seem to be the case, and charts where it doesn't. Is there a definitive opinion? Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 2:52 pm
10 by Deb I've seen these ancient suggestions too, but I don't think it works as a formula. Put it this way, knowledge of the synodic cycles was one of the known essential principles of ancient astrology long before we have evidence of the use of the zodiac or a consensus on planetary dignities. To me, this is like the discussion on whether combustion counts if it is out of sign. The deeper relevance of the planetary cycles supercedes the importance of the zodiac symbolism as far as I'm concerned. I don't dismiss the zodiac as Eddy does, but if I had to, for this point I would Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 3:05 pm
11 by Olivia Thanks, Deb. I've never been entirely comfortable with it, and could usually find something else in the chart to ocmpensate if the planet in question didn't seem to be fried. Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 3:22 pm
12 by cx61 Thank you for all the interesting responses. I love the new Arabic Part! I see that I've given a lovely demonstration of my tendency to overthink things - oh well. I've checked back with my friend and obtained some more information about this question. She did indeed meet someone interesting about 3 months ago. He is a friend of a friend that she has seen only a few times. There are some sparks, but there is also a substantial age gap (he is younger). He is an extremely shy Cancer who in most social situations seems to be trying hard to be invisible. Although this is not classical horary, I was noticing that the Moon's next aspect to an outer planet is a conjunction to Uranus in the 7th, which might tie in with the age difference. Does anyone ever make use of the outer planets in horary work? Quote Mon Feb 15, 2010 9:07 pm
