Persian Nativities 2 on sale soon, study guides

1
Hi All,

Deb is going to put up a page on this (with free excerpts) soon, but I wanted to let the Skyscript folks know early that the second installment of my natal series is ready for the printer and will go on pre-sale within about a week. On my site I have begun to put up some study guides for people to use with the books.

Abu Ma'shar's On the Revolutions of Nativities proved to be too big to include in this volume, so it will be a stand-alone volume on solar returns, out later this year.

Contents of PN2:

Three Books on Nativities, by 'Umar al-Tabari, a colleague of Mash'allah's. This new translation supersedes the earlier Project Hindsight edition, using the Book of Aristotle and Abu Bakr to reorganize the first two books into a seamless, coherent approach to rearing, profections and annual directions. Delineation material on topics has also been compared and occasionally numbered for easier comprehension. Learning level: beginner-intermediate.

On Nativities by Abu Bakr. The first English translation of this famous and lengthy work from the 9th Century. Highlights include dozens of delineations for character and behavior, medical issues, and numerous professions. Learning level: intermediate.

The excerpt from the Introduction also describes a little bit about my upcoming "cycle" of volumes of medieval translations, which are designed to give students of traditional astrology a complete, start-to-finish experience, and to act as textbooks for courses and personal study. There will also be some introductory texts written by me, with excerpts from older authors.

Best,
