Astrological Physiognomy

I have just published two working papers on Astrological Physiognomy:

Astrological Physiognomy: History and Sources (April 20, 2010).

A comprehensive literature review of astrological physiognomy from the Greco-Roman period to the present day. Includes works canonical to the non-astrological physiognomy tradition beginning with the pseudo-Aristotelian Physiognomica (3rd Cent BCE). 71 pages.

Astrological Physiognomy: Empirical Tests of the Leo Rising Decan (April 16, 2010).

A test of methods for predicting the shape of the face based facial models of John Willner (1991) and the rising decan (Hindu decans). Majority of examples support the Sun?s sign and not the Sun?s season as the contributor to physiognomy. Study raises questions on inclusion of Sun?s season in temperament models as recommended by Ptolemy. Thirty-six examples. Horoscopes sourced from Astrodatabank; no rectified charts used. 57 pages.

They are free and available as direct article download links (pdf) either from the home page of my site or the newly reorganized research tab.

The latter paper will especially appeal to readers of the recent thread on the tropical/seasonal zodiac question. My research which shows the Sun influences physiognomy by sign and not season supports the notion that there is no need to reverse the signs of the tropical zodiac for Southern Hemisphere horoscopes.
