Same siginificators

Hi:

Horary question regarding career - when the ascendent is rising in Virgo, the lord of tenth house would be Gemini. This implies as the Significator for the person asking and the Job is Same - Mercury. How does one resove this ? Do we take the significator for the question asker as Moon - is it right way ?

Yes the Moon is always your co-significator in any chart. I had a job horary with these precise signs on the angles. The joint significator doesn't really give you a clue where you stand in relation to the question. In my chart mercury was in the 10th house too. However, I think that just reflected my focus on getting the job. In the event I didn't get it. I am not sure if the moon revealed that answer or not. I need to check my files. Do you have a chart you can post or data or is this just a theoretical question?

Thanks

Thanks Goca & Mark for the response.

The data for the chart is - 24th April 2010, 15:29 PM - Place Mumbai, India ( 72e50, 18n58).

My analysis for this is as follows. I would appreciate, corrections/additions to this.

Here the Moon is in Virgo 9' 21'' ( Asc Virgo 15') /12th house, is in trine with Mercury in Taurus 10' 53''/ 8th house. Mercury being retrograde ,they are moving towards each other. That a positive indication and tells that the querent should be getting this job.

Mercury, the significator of Job is retrograde and combust, which says that the job may not be very exciting. The ruler of second Venus in in Taurus 29' , 9th house, indicates the moneywise the job would be good.

Also, have a queston - How do we estimate the time of the possible event, in case the significator is retrograte ?

Thanks,
Harsh

Hello Harsh

The Moon trine with Mercury does have mutual receptions too so that's good, however Saturn retrograde and peregrine in the 1st house is saying something.

You might find it interesting to read what John Gadbury, William Lilly and Guido Bonatus each had to say about it and see if it applies to the horary chart you've cast?

John Gadbury mentioned the combination that occurs in this chart, i.e. Saturn lacking essential dignity and placed in the 1st with the Ascendant-ruler retrograde and combust. All their texts can be downloaded for free via the 'links' page on this website (http://www.skyscript.co.uk/texts.html). Some of their comments might be lessened by other factors in this chart, one of them being the fact that Mercury can tolerate combustion better than the other planets.

Having said that about Mercury's combustion - and the Sun is natural significator of career achievements etc so that could be relevant - Mercury is still retrograde and about to re-enter the 8th house. If the 8th house is directly relevant to the line of work that the querent is seeking then that's fine, but if not the 8th house is unfavourable. Similar could be said about the 9th house which is a relatively weak house but if it's describing the type of work that the querent is applying for then it's not a bad thing.

When retrograde a planet is weakened, so unless retrograde is descriptive in an appropriate way, e.g. if the person is applying for a job that he was previously in, then it might be that whatever happens does so in an unexpected way.

Another problem is that Mercury when it's in Taurus can't behold Gemini, which isn't favourable to 10th house matters in this chart. It can behold the Virgo Ascendant though, which is a plus.
