Hello again,

From what I understand, partile means part of degree. So does this mean in the same degree or having an orb of one degree?

Examples:
Mercury in 02Ari01 and Sun in 02Ari59 - no question here as they are in the same degree and having orb of less than a degree. So they are in partile conjunction.

Mercury in 02Aquarius55 and Sun in 03Ari01 - are they in partile sextile (because they have an orb of less than a degree) or are they not (because they are not in the same degree).

The reason I ask is that I see that some hellenistic astrologers seem to point to the same degree as being more important than less than a degree orb as they see every degree as discrete space (just like a sign as a discrete 12th of a circle).

Partile is at the same degree, not within an orb of one degree, as far as I have learned, but some astrologers may be more lenient, etc. In your example, they would both have to be in 2 degrees of the sign or in 3 degrees of the sign, not both at the same time (the first one you listed would be correct, not the second).

Partile can mean being in the same degree (exactness), but as Deb mentions, it can also be interpreted as a part of the zodiac, so if one planet is in 2 degrees of a sign, that is not the same part as a planet in 3 degrees of a sign (assuming they are aspecting).
