Derived houses and similar techniques

1
This is not strictly a question on a single traditional technique, but I would be interested in any take on it using such techniques.

I recently experienced two very similar events in close proximity to each other. This in itself is nothing unusual; but these particular events did not concern me directly. Rather, two of my closest friends lost their mothers within one week of each other, and I am wondering how this may relate, if at all, to my own radix, annual revolution, etc. One of the ladies who passed away was elderly, the other was not; but both fell ill during spring/early summer, took a sudden turn for the worse in June, and expired in late July. Both had been about to go on a journey; and in both cases the sons had only just returned from journeys of their own when their mothers died.

I am not looking for specific comments on my chart (hence no data given), but would like to know if others have had similar experiences, and what factors they think could be relevant in such cases. My only observation so far is that the Moon in my current revolution is separating (by square) from the ruler of the 11th, in double-bodied signs; but they are otherwise strong and well-disposed, and I should not have dared predict such events on those grounds alone.

I've had mixed experiences with it, which tells me that I should consider it, but not rely on it as a standalone technique.

I recently did a horary about a querent's brother. It was a pretty simple and straightforward question. I bombed it. I did the whole chart based on 3rd house and house derived from the 3rd.

So I'm a bit more cautious now about it.

I do not have in my memory any event of such nature, where two different situations unfold in a similar way. Still, about house derivation, sometimes I've seen it as the only possible way to see some events in a given chart. For example, in my father's death, my chart profection and my sister's both had a 7th/8th sign transition. My other sister had a 6th sign (diseases) with a added testimony that almuten of the father sits in the 6th sign natally.

But on my mother's chart, the 2nd sign rose both on the SR and the profection for that year of death. Well, the 2nd is the 8th from 7th, after all.

This is just an observation, but it seems to me that for some reason that if 2 planets are in their proper face then the derived houses that are more closely related to that disposition will be more powerful. For example, I have Mercury in Leo and Saturn in Capricorn so Saturn and Mercury are in proper face (a 1st - 8th house relation or 1st - 6th) therefore the derived houses Aquarius -> Virgo , or Capricorn -> Gemini would be especially powerful when the time comes and those places are activated by spirit or fortune or some other aphesis method (as in zodiacal releasing). I have no idea what the theoretical reason for this might be, but I have seen this numerous times as indicating important periods to watch out for in relation to the derived house meaning for the event. In other words the events indicated by the derived house meaning is what is most likely to happen when these places are active in the releasing. I would expect similar to be the case in profections. Maybe Schmidt would have some clue as to why?
