Deborah Houlding Receives Charles Harvey Award

I am sure everyone here on Skyscript will be delighted to hear that this year the Astrological Association of the United Kingdom awarded Deborah Houlding the prestigious Charles Harvey award for her services to astrology. :'

The Charles Harvey Award is presented annually by the Astrological Association in honour of the AA's former President, Charles Harvey. Charles was a professional astrologer, a dedicated teacher, an experienced writer and a tireless worker for astrology for thirty years. He spent a lifetime in the service of astrology.

The Award is therefore presented for outstanding achievement and excellence in any area of astrology, whether it be high profile public work, behind-the-scenes voluntary service, innovative research or traditional scholarship.

I would like to be the first here on Skyscript to pass on my congratuations to Deb. I am sure the countless people that that have benefited from Skyscript, and Deb's writing and teaching over the years will also want to pass on their heartfelt best wishes. :D

When I attended an intensive course with Deb some years back one of the other participants described her as 'the astrologer's astrologer'. I still think that is a very accurate description. Well done Deb and keep it coming! :'

Ps Deb also gave the Charles Carter Memorial lecture at the Astrological Association this year. As is the tradition she is repeating her talk at the Astrological Lodge of London tonight:

Congratulations, Deborah ! Well-deserved.
Even if you had never published, this forum alone is a very important contribution. In addition to everything else, ...
well, you certainly deserve this prestigious award.

Thanks for all you've done/are doing.

Congratulations from me too, Deb! Very well-deserved, and really not before time that your services to astrology were formally recognised. Let me see: pioneering editor and republisher of numerous classic English astrological works from the Renaissance through to the early 20th century; editor of the first English-language magazine dedicated to the study of traditional astrology in general*; founder of a thriving online community and collection of resources to the same purpose; author of the first modern book aimed at astrologers to re-assert the traditional meanings of the astrological houses based on a thorough historical examination; teacher and lecturer on horary astrology and other aspects of traditional astrology; contributor of numerous articles to other magazines. And that's just the little I know!

I agree with Mark regarding the 'astrologer's astrologer' appelation. Although a quick search on google.com shows that this has been used of quite a wide range of different astrologers, it's certainly especially well-deserved in your case!

*The Horary Practitioner might have come first, but was arguably narrower in its focus.
