4 by Mark How Neptune in Aquarius is this? Israel has signed an agreement with Google to put the Dead Sea Scrolls online. Hi Elderwoman, I confess I wouldn't have put this one together either. Still traditionally the Jewish people are associated with Aquarius. Although the long transit of Neptune in that sign could be used to explain a variety of things retrospectively! 5 by Atlantean Hello, I didn't get it either. I am assuming that she meant the (once-hidden) religious documents (Neptune) are now making their way online (Aquarius, through Uranus' rulership?) It's like a skeptics' convention in here. All these "meaningful looks" and nobody knows anything. Peace Atlantean Last edited by Atlantean on Fri Oct 22, 2010 8:34 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I am so used to using traditional rulerships I forget the thought processes of modern astrologers sometimes. 7 by ### If a person wanted to assign this relatively unimportant event to the passage of an outer plant through a sign, then how about Uranus in Pisces? Uranus, the planet of computer technology, at work in Pisces ? the realm of spirituality and the sea. Not that the Dead Sea is really much of a sea ? just a big salty lake, really. But it registers in the mind as 'sea' so I'm sure the symbolism is sound. The thought processes of modern and traditionalist astrologers are usually on the same track, being in search of symbolism and meaning. The problem lies in becoming a little too superstitious and finding meaningful significance in nearly everything. Both groups do it.

I dont want new members to feel every post here has to be deeply profound or involve painstaking research. Naturally, I deeply welcome such contributions. However, I dont want people afraid to post here in case they get defenestrated by Skyscript veterans. Its fine to question the logic of a post but lets try and keep it friendly. 9 by ### Is it just me or do I detect some merciless satire here? No merciless satire involved. I was making the point that Uranus in Pisces fits too. The mass-market astrologers have got people all worked up about the outer planets, leading to all sorts to events and trends being assigned to Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. I find it appalling. I see no need to apologize for seeing it that way. And the event is quite unimportant. That's just the way it is. If it is important then perhaps Elderwoman could tell us why. Part of the problem is that I am approaching this topic with more than Skyscript in mind. Some hours before my first reply I had seen the exact same post with the same title at the Tyl forum. One person who is notoriously nasty wrote a brief reply (that reply has since been deleted). Someone else wrote 3 replies. The member who started the topic ? 'Elder' ? hasn't replied. http://noeltyl.com/discussion/index.php?topic=4216.0 The same person started the same topic at Astrodienst, but worded differently and filled out with a bit more of what she was getting at. Two people replied, but elderwoman hasn't bothered to acknowledge them. http://forum.astro.com/cgi/forum.cgi?num=1287539901 I personally don't worry too much about offending someone who skips around and drops comments here and there without bothering to carry on a full discussion. But of course, anyone who saw the post at only one site wouldn't know what was going on. I think the most important issue here is that I waste far too much time popping in at these discussion groups to see what people are babbling on about.
10 by Mike N This thread caught my eye. I think your last sentence Kirk is most sensible. I notice at Noel Tyl Lorenzo Smerillo's post was deleted. Lorenzo is a very intelligent fellow, deeply sarcastic and fond of ridiculing the less gifted, A forum such as this one would benefit enormously from someone with these qualities. I wasn't intending to post here again as I pointed out a moderator had made a deeply ignorant remark, not so long ago, and it was deleted. The observation was factual. If we can't point out people's stupidity, and have our own pointed out to us in return, it is unlikely conversations are going to be anything other than banal. The Neptune in Aquarius comment is foolish if only because the poster does not state why she or he thinks it is a valid astrological delineation. I teach and I think most days I will say to more than one student you are foolish to think this, what crass stupidity, and so on. Why lie , it does not do anyone any favours as far as I can see. It's dishonest.
11 by elderwoman I see the Forum Police are alive and well! Am amazed at the reaction to my post about Israel and Google. It was meant to amuse. Some light amusement wouldn't go astray on this forum!!!
12 by Mark This is all getting unneccesarily personal. I am going to lock this thread now as it seems to be going nowhere astrologically. To Mike: If you have problems with a particular moderator on Skyscript raise it directly with Deborah Houlding by PM. Vague, indiscriminate criticisms of a Skyscript moderator on the open forum is not the way to handle such issues. I will say though calling other members 'stupid' is not likely to get you very far here. Words like 'misinformed' 'confused' or simply 'incorrect' can convey your point without being personally offensive and breaking forum rules. If you insist on using such language about other members you will find your posts deleted without warning. I suggest you read the Skyscript forum rules as you dont seem familiar with them: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/read.html Also the Mundane forum rules: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5239 Mark As thou conversest with the heavens, so instruct and inform thy minde according to the image of Divinity William Lilly
