Intercepted ascendent 1 by Debbie An friend and I both have 24 degrees of Capricorn rising. Aquarius is a large part of our first house. He says that because Aquarius takes up so much of his first house, he is really an Aquarius rising. I don't agree. What do people think? Quote Fri Dec 10, 2010 3:33 pm

3 by Deb I agree with Frank and expect most other astrologers would too. Deb Quote Fri Dec 10, 2010 8:10 pm

The progressed Ascendant(See Alan Leo's book) would move in Aquarius in early teens and probably be in Aquarius for 30 yrs or so. Read about Progressed Ascendant in Aquarius(Progressed Horoscope-Alan Leo). But, the personality effects apply more to progressed Sun. Elsewhere, people with Mars in late Capricorn will have progressed Mars in Aquarius(Airy, fixed and a human sign) for most of their adult lives. But this is out of the box thinking. 5 by daz madrigal The progressed Ascendant(See Alan Leo's book) I wouldn't have thought Alan Leo was still in fashion..maybe he's so out of date he's come back into fashion. Mad Daz's Place, quiet but never boring http://pinkmelon.proboards82.com/index.cgi Quote Sat Dec 11, 2010 5:12 pm

7 by Mark While I dont think there is any debate about what sign an ascendant falls in I do think this question raises the broader issue of how we deal with intercepted houses in delineation. Arguably, intercepted houses are one of the difficult issues thrown up by any system of quadrant house division. For example, I know one prominent astrologer who teaches her pupils that all planets in intercepted signs are weaker in effect irrespective of which house they fall in. I am not aware of this idea coming up in traditional sources. 8 by pankajdubey Interesting point. It would be interesting research on this point that whether the planet manifested itself more forcefully when it progressed out of that intercepted sign. Not sure if the original question was about a sign intercepted or a sign spanning most of the first house. Off now till the new year. PD Quote Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:11 pm
9 by Southern Writer I feel that they are like flashing neon arrows that say, "pay attention here." There's something in there (previous life leftover?) that needs to be worked out. I have them in my own chart, and the planets in them are definitely not weak in any way. Memphis Astrology Quote Sun Aug 07, 2011 11:13 pm
