I bought a copy of this book a while back, and thought that Rolleston was really on to something. If you read the Bible with a copy of Allen's Star Lore or other guide to the history of star names and something like a Peterson or Audubon guide to backyard astronomy, her case is pretty compelling.

Why this work was not treated more seriously is hard to say. As a woman amateur scholar, Rolleston was easily ignored by the academy. If any Christians or Jewish theologians took her work seriously, they would find it blasphemous at worst, or incongruous with their biblical glosses at best.
