question regarding confusing partnerships

1
I can't believe may password still works here! great:)

So I believe I already know my answer but Im stilll a bit baffled?

The querent is the ruler of 1st house and moon. The quesited though could be considered a lover, a partner or a friend. That is exactly the question. "where does our relationship stand from his perspective?"

Would you simply look to the 1st 7th relationship or would you see where the querent aspects to get the answer?

Example: The moon rules first house and is in the 11th, square aspect with the querents 11th house ruler. This shows the querent in a "difficult friendship?" therby answering her question?

Any suggestions?

This might be the time to ask why the querent phrased it that way. Does she want him to come back, e.g., Will we be lovers/spouses again? If so, that's 7th house.

Does she want them to be business partners again? Also 7.

Does she want him to get lost and never see or speak to or of her again? Once more 7, this time on enemies.

Does she want to be friends with him and nothing else ever? If so, then 11th house.

Usually, not always, these questions are 1-7, because generally people ask them because they want a reconciliation.

When someone asks how another views them, one would assume the querent feels romantically about the quesited? My thought on these types of questions is to signify the quesited as 7th ruler and see the relationship between both parties. Moon and Saturn right now are in aversion, for example, as L1 and L7, and Moon exalted in the 11th would support being a good friend.

It sounds like it's more likely this quesited is 7th, so Saturn (retro in Libra) would represent them and, in general, a quesited as Saturn tends to represent some difficulty around the issue. A quesited as a malefic, more particularly Saturn, is harder, in general.

I would need to look at the chart because you have Venus and Jupiter in the mix of Moon and Saturn currently, but I would think Venus dispositing them both is going to add testimony to the chart. Is she in the 8th? My guess is yes, which doesn't bode well for a romantic situation or even a friendship one. You would want Venus in a better situation. And we can't forget the Jupiter-Saturn opp... it's just a tangled web of planets there: four. And Venus couldn't even translate light between Moon and Saturn because Jupiter stepped in between, so all of this is going to add to the reading. For a clear yes to romance, I would expect a stronger link between L1 (here Moon anyway) and L7 and by "strong" I mean good too. A general positive, fruitful, romantic sort of chart. And romance isn't really 11th house (although that is a positive place to be still), so the Moon there seems more so friendship oriented to me.

My first horary ever was to a professional astrologer and I asked this question of a man ("does he view me as a friend or romantically?" etc.) I was very deeply in love with but we were friends and coworkers. I did not view him as just a friend, and the querent is the focal point of any chart. That chart had quesited (L7) in the 5th and applying to trine my sig and the Moon separated from a trine also, which the astrologer said indicated romantic feelings by quesited (applying to trine from the 5th, plus in Taurus, would more likely indicate a "yes," to romance, etc.). My guess is that house placements and rulers will especially be key in describing how they view the querent and vice versa. Also, the planet as quesited and their turned ASC should represent them properly, meaning it fits their personality, behavior and appearance. That should be the best judge of the appropriate rulership, IMO. The 11th ruler in mine was actually a very afflictive Mars, which didn't seem to support friendship and a friendship was certainly not in the end. Mars did not describe him well either. It gave him Gemini rising with Mercury in Taurus and he is a natal Gemini rising w/ Mercury in Capricorn. [It also gave me Sag rising with Jupiter in the cuspy 1st/2nd, and I am a natal ASC ruler in Sag with Jupiter in the cuspy 1st/2nd - gotta love horary!]

Traditionally in Horary this is a evidence of failure because two and principal significators are in disarmonic aspect. This is most called "yes or no tecnique" o "radical question". Lilly, in fact, declares:
Zadkiel/Lilly, p. 78 wrote:Things are also produced to perfection when the significators apply by ? aspect, provided each planet have dignity in the degrees wherein they are, and apply out of proper and good houses; otherwise not. Sometimes it happens that a matter is effected when the significators apply by ?, but it is when there is mutual reception by house, and out of friendly houses, and the ? separating from the significator of the thing demanded, and applying presently to the lord of the ascendant. I have seldom seen any thing drought to perfection by this way of opposition, but the querent had been better the thing had been undone; for, if the question was concerning marriage, the parties seldom agreed, but were ever wrangling and disputing, each party repining at his evil choice, laying the blame upon their covetous parents, as having no mind to it themselves; and if the question was about portion or monies, the querent did, it is true, recover his money or portion promised, but it cost him more to procure it in suit of law than the debt was worth; and so have I seen it happen in many other things, &c.
Thus, if they arent good and powerful receptions or dignities the question will be negative. In this regard, it's better a chart of question!

Hi, borealis, and welcome back! ;-)

Personally, i would examine the 1st/7th axis (and the Moon, of course). Inaslong as the Querent thinks that the second person's role in his or her life is not yet precisely determined ('could be considered a lover, a partner or a friend'), i'd say that the 7th house makes more sense- not only because we examine the 7th as a house of partners in love life but simply because we are trying to determine the quality of the relationship between the Querent and 'the other party' - what they share now or could share in the future is the focal point of question hence the Asc/DC axis to me sounds like a perfectly good choice.
But, needles to add, a strongly emphasized 11th in a such situation is an obvious sign of the importance of the activities described by that house. The placement of a strong Moon (and L1) in there might be suggesting that they are friends in the first place (I completely agree with Tanit here). it might also be suggesting that it is very important to wage all the cons and pros before bringing any further decisions because it is their friendship that is at stake. Square is a stressful aspect but such aspects can be overcome. Is an applying square?
