What time does wednesdays solar eclipse start? I live in southern california, and i was wondering if anyone knew what time the solar eclipse starts so that i can be properly prepared.

However, you cannot tell from this if an eclipse is visible in your area.
You should try Wikipedia which usually describes what parts of the world an eclipse will be visible in.

If you want to be more sophisticated and precise you can use the NASA website to track when an eclipse is visble (if at all) in your specific location. You need to type in the continent, the nearest city listed and the period you are checking for e.g. the years 2000-2100. This will give you the exact visbility of any solar eclipse during that century in your location. If the solar eclipse happens at night where you are or if your location is not along the path of the eclipse it will not be visible to you. Astrolgically, its worth looking for the point of 'greatest eclipse'. This is when the eclipse is visually most noticeable. Its quite different in timing from the the point where the Sun and Moon share identical zodiacal longitude. The timing of greatest eclipse is the point traditional astrological authorities relied on not a simple zodiacal conjunction between the Sun and Moon.

You actually didn't miss out on this eclipse. It was only really visible near the South Pole and the tip of southern Africa.
Actually, there are no eclipses visible in California this year.

The next solar eclipse this year (November 25th) is totally over Antartica in daylight. New Zealand and the southern tip of Australia (Tasmania) and South Africa are also on the eclipse path.
For serious eclipse students last weeks eclipse was an interesting one though as it represented the beginning of a whole new Saros cycle. In particular Saros 156. Quite a rare event.

Certainly! We should pay careful attention to current the shifts and changes. In a Nostradamian sense this initiating eclipse forms the basis for future long term predictions. The 156 Saros Series is at other schools labled as Saros Series 13 South because it occurs at the Moon's South Node. It is just a different and more simplified manner of reckoning the Saros. Would the eclipses at the Moon's South Node be more liable to bring things to an end?

Espenak at NASA: Each series typically lasts 12 to 13 centuries and contains 70 or more eclipses.

According to Espenak at http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEsaros/SEsaros0-180.html this cycle contains only 69 eclipses, which appears to be a rare minimum. Some Saros series have up to 86 eclipses. This would relate to whether the eclipse occurs while the Moon is at perigee or apogee. The 156 series also seems particular by the fact that it contains NO TOTAL ECLIPSES of the Sun. The eclipses are either partial or annular. That gives food for thought! What does it mean? Annular eclipses are per definition partial eclipses. Do annular eclipses touch our center in a different manner than total eclipses? The longest eclipse occurs on March 3. 2516. This is when the cycle is at its height. The cycle is completed with a final partial eclipse on July 14. 3237.

Saros Cycle 13S

Considering this it the initiating eclipse of a new Saros cycle, here is the Astro*Cartography Chart. We should definately be working more on the Saros!
It is intriguing to see how the Venus line goes over Juba in South Sudan. The Mars line goes over Rome in Italy, but also close to cities like Gothenburg and Copenhagen. Venus is on the ascendant of Washington DC, but the Americans are battling issues of financial deficit at the moment. Venus is in Gemini with the Moon's South Node that is founding for the Saros series.
