In vedic systems the conjunction betwen Sun and nodes taking place till the 19th is always very inauspicious for leaders of all kind or highly placed people.
I never heard of that in western Astrology,probably because we tend to think of North node as a good point. But the sex scandal with American generals is a good example. Let us wait and see

You are talking about Solar Eclipse

The ACS ephemeris lists the exact eclipse for Nov 13. I am not sure why you say that it "lasts" until the 19th. An eclipse may take place when the luminaries are within 15 degrees of the Nodes, so this may imply a kind of "orb."

My Hindu teachers used to describe Rahu as the "great multiplier." This explains why it had a good reputation for "increase" in the medieval repertoire. Increase was always good.

But what is increased? Because Rahu, the head of the dragon which was cut in two pieces (but only after having tasted the elixir of immortality), remains eternally hostile to the Sun and Moon because they were the enemies who betrayed him, he is forever trying to swallow them -- increasing his own insatiable appetite. Since Rahu is the dragon's hungry mouth, he is the more dangerous of the two. (With Ketu, the tail, the eclipsed planet simply falls through a kind of "Black Hole.") Since the Sun symbolizes national leaders or heads of state in political astrology, it is easy to see why an eclipse of the Sun by Rahu would be dangerous to leaders, esp. as Rahu more often eclipses the Moon statistically, whereas Ketu more often eclipses the Sun. So the danger of the mouth which only wants to eat more and thus "increase" itself is in fact pretty dangerous to world leaders.

The short answer to what is increased is "the Moon"... For the Sun contrary to sect this is not good.

Rahu more often eclipses the Moon statistically, whereas Ketu more often eclipses the Sun

Is this true? I don't see why. A lunar eclipse happens when the Moon passes a node at Full Moon, as solar one when the passage is at New Moon, but I don't think there's any difference in frequency, over a full cycle, between N and S nodes. Or have I misunderstood something?
But I like Curtis's idea (in his link) that the north node is "moony" and therefore bad for the Sun and solar significations (at least in Northern hemisphere, where the Moon goes "up" over the Sun's path at the north node).

Well, Graham, I agree that it doesn't sound terribly logical, and I cannot fully confirm it without going through many years in the ephemeris, but it's what all the "old guys" from India say.
