Hey everybody, I have a pretty basic question that seems to have a lot of answers. I've already searched through this message board, but I still can't seem to find a conclusive answer. Anyways, my question is: assume that you have jupiter in libra in the 10th house, and its dispositor venus is retrograde and in fall. As I understand it, the house ruler takes predominance over posited planets when it comes to the ultimate outcome of the house. However in order to understand the general performance of this person's 10th house we would have to consider (the badly debilitated) venus and also jupiter. That being said, how does this actually play out in real life? I mean, in this situation would the person with this chart has a spectacular/relatively lucky career for a few years and then ultimately have it all come falling down? Or could this person even attain a decent career to begin with? I'm just trying to wrap my head around how this plays out in real life. Thanks.

As far as I know, Morin and those agreeing with him state that "position is stronger than rulership". In this case it would mean that Jupiter will have, at least, a much more important role in forming the issues pertaining to the 10th house than Venus, its ruler.
Even not knowing other data of Jupiter (exact position, rulerships etc), it is a participating triplicity ruler (according to Dorotheus and Ptolemy) in its place and in the angular 10th house, so for sure better dignified than Venus.
The way of understanding/interpreting meanings of a house and its ruler are various: one is the meaning you mentioned (when the sign the house cusp is in indicates how the issue will be in the beginning and the ruler of the house and its quality indicates the outcome or end of the issue), another can be when the ruler shows the causes of the issues happening in the house, etc.
Anyway, it is always advised not to make conclusions without having mapped the whole chart and understood its connections and coherence, I would suggest you do the same in this case, too.
