Delineations of tropical signs based on rising times? 1 by lihin Good evening, Although many references are found to the differences of rising times of tropical signs (northern hemisphere) in various books of Hellenistic and Mediaeval astrologies, to my quite incomplete knowledge there were no comprehensive delineations of signs - comparable to ex. gr. polarity, triangles and squares (also referred to as gender, element and mode) - based on the aforementioned differences. Am aware of the various kinds of 'mirroring' based on the rising times, sometimes understood to mitigate aversions. Could someone fill me in please, if possible, on further, extensive delineations in Hellenistic and / or Mediaeval astrological works? It would seem appropriate to bear in mind that the signs to not 'shift speeds' from fast, middling, slow and back but rather accelerate and decelerate. Here is a list for convenience' sake: Aries - fast decelerating Taurus - middling decelerating Gemini - slow decelerating Cancer - slow accelerating Leo - middling accelerating Virgo - fast accelerating Libra - fast decelerating Scorpius - middling decelerating Sagittarius - slow decelerating Capricornus - slow accelerating Aquarius - middling accelerating Pisces - fast accelerating One can see that these qualities directly taken from astronomical phenomena contrast to the three modes. They are six in number, shared by opposite signs but not of the same nature as polarity (gender). Best regards, lihin Non esse nihil non est. Quote Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:40 pm
