Hi there - I have posted a brief review on an installation of Janus 4.3 on a Linux based machine at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=17735.

The installation is on Linux Mint 14 (Nadia) running Cinnamon desktop and Wine 1.4.1. The machine is a straightforward Pentium 4 with 2GB RAM. The software works very well with only minor glitches that won't impact on day-to-day usage. All the features of Janus 4.3 are available on this installation.

Wine is a clever piece of software that allows Windows programs to be installed and run under Linux, without using what is known as a virtual machine (an operating system within an operating system) which is very resource intensive.

Wine creates a Windows like environment within Linux that 'fools' software into thinking that it is installed on a Windows machine.

I have also installed Janus 4.3 under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the Unity desktop. This also works well, but not as well as Linux Mint. It runs slowly at times on a netbook running Ubuntu, but this is down to the limitations of the netbook rather than the software. The basic functions (charting etc) run well on the netbook, but the functions like the traditional module are quite slow.
