Balloon crash kills 19 tourists in Egypt

A balloon carrying tourists caught fire and crashed near the city of Luxor in Egypt on Tuesday, February 26. 2013. According to the BBC-report (Link) the balloon took off at 06.00 a.m. local time and was just about to land an hour later at 07.00 am when a gas cylinder on board exploded. At this time the balloon was only about 10-15 metres above the ground and at least one of the crew and one tourist managed to jump from the vessel before it rapidly rose to 300 metres, caught fire and plunged to the ground.

The preceding syzygy shows Saturn, Lord of the Aquarius 4rth house, retrograde, rising in the Scorpio ascendant. The Full Moon is in the 10th house and Lady of the 9th house of long-distance travel. The luminaries form an an exact T-square with Jupiter as focal planet in the air sign Gemini on the cusp of the 8th house. Mercury is the ruler of the lunation, considering that the Moon is that of the luminaries that is above the horizon. Mercury is retrograde and applying to the conjunction of Mars in Pisces in the 5th house. Maybe Pisces and the 5th represents the tourists and past time recreation.

The BBC-report says that the journey started at 06.00 a.m. and the Balloon exploded and crashed at 07.00 local time. The Moon is just coming off her sextile with Saturn, where Saturn was midpoint of a configuration with the Moon and Pluto. Jupiter, focal planet in the T-square of the preceding full Moon, would have been angular on the cusp of the 4th house as passengers were boarding the balloon 15 minutes prior to take off. At 06.54 a.m. the lord of the preceding syzygy, retrograde Mercury, joined to Mars in Pisces, would have been rising in the ascendant. An explaination offered to the tragic accident was that the balloon had hit a high pressure electrical cable (some error in navigations) causing a cylinder on board to explode. People jumping from the balloon to escape the fire changed the weight balance of the balloon, causing the remaining passangers to be carried back up into the sky before the balloon itself caught fire and plunged back down again.

Any event may be a candidate for mundane astrological analyses. However, my impression is that astrologers often allow themselves to be guided by current journalism's reports in their selection of events to spend their precious resources on. In view of the fact that the population of the worldwide human pandemic is increasing at a net rate of 5 per second, it may be doubted whether an event involving 29 deaths is 'significant' in mundane terms.

The North American severe dryness of 2012 may have been a more significant event that has received, to my limited knowledge, little astrological attention to date.

Thank you! I do wish things worked according to your thinking, and surely anyone is free and should be encouraged to start upon such a task and study. My frustration is that even some of my best studies and predictive work over 30 years remains unpaid, so there was no need or requirement to continue such work. In fact, I felt forced by circumstantial responsibilities to make other priorities. Following headlines in the News as they appear, does give an opportunity to monitor the astrological and maybe such articles will gather interest and encourage the studies as you propose.
