I have only seen the lord of the 5th and/or Mars involved when the querent is either

a) specifically asking about having sex with another

or

b) querent asks about a relationship, but the 'question behind the question' is really about 'sex', and not 'love'

Right. Same here. It also appears that the 5th house can pertain to lust as well, from what I've seen. Physical attraction on a general level.

Lilly in CA speaks of deviations as Moderns, among them are Kepler and particularly John Gadbury.

Not really. I think Lilly is right again. To avoid the criticism to destroy the really meaning of the author's text by giving only snippets of it I'm going to give the whole text as to the seventh. Lilly, CA, p. 54:

"The seventh House.

It giveth judgement of Marriage, and describes the person
inquired after, whether it be Man or Woman, all manner of

On 5th/7th house matters, I disagree with Lilly. In my experience, following should be taken into consideration

5th house relationships apart from other things:

-No strings attached sexual relationship
-Friendship with benefits
-Lust
-Sexual activity
-Any activity which makes the person/Querent happy


If the significator of first house is in bad shape in 5th house, it means that the person is either fatigued, in trouble or in distress because of 5th house matters.

It's Not just Lilly you are deviating from but most if Not all the Traditional writers before him.

See the swamp of this is like in threads past, people asking about govenors, kings, Presidents, Mayors etc., start using any old house they think is right, and they have some supporting evidence. Like very recently many newbies have been saying the 7th was a President, then, another may say, 'no it's the Asc. as it's the 10th of the fourth for my homeland'. Or they say 'No it's the ...whatever...'

This is the quagmire that Gadbury created by altering house matters from the traditional approach.

If one keeps sliding away from Traditionalism, you eventually say the 'Outers rule the actual house of the Matter'.. Then you can start using asteroids, mid-points, 10 degree orbs to fixed stars, it goes on and on, and before long the science and art has been so corrupted that the public and those we serve laugh at us, because then we really become a 'pseudo science'.

Do a serious comparison of Gadbury to Lilly, read what others in their time and from Contemporary Traditionalists have said!

Because if we let all the earth erode away, the mountain of Traditionalism, we will Not have worthy documentation to fall back on.

Next thing you know we will have to implement Nostradamus's 13th sign of the zodiac into our charts...it will never end, the mountain of wisdom will become sand and mud drifting out upon the ocean of life that others will later mock us for our lazy ineptness will they not?
