British Royalty and Exalted Jupiter 1 by pankajdubey With a new future king yet to be born. I had an interesting thought. How many British Monarch's had exalted Jupiter. You will be surprised- the last one seems to be King James II of Scotland and he had an exalted but retrograde Jupiter. The British seem to have very ingeniously avoided the exalted Jupiter in their Monarchs even though they have been the titular heads of Church of England. http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Jam ... f_Scotland James II was also the last Roman Catholic monarch to rule Britain. http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Hen ... of_England During his time England was Catholic. Looks like Jupiter in Cancer represents Catholic leanings and Jupiter in Gemini is the protestor. PD Last edited by pankajdubey on Tue Jul 23, 2013 12:43 pm, edited 1 time in total. 2 by amandaW I know it is not directly the topic of this thread - but indirectly relating to the royal birth Venus co-joining Regulus is also interesting "The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper" Eden Phillpotts Quote Mon Jul 22, 2013 2:46 pm

4 by Mark Hello Pankajdubey/Amelia, Its looking like we will have an opportunity to open a thread here on the birth of the royal baby very soon. Anticipation in the UK media is reaching fever pitch and its expected the baby will be born this evening or in the early hours of Tuesday. The protocol is that the Queen will be notified first of the new arrival before a public announcement. Apparently, the elderly sovereign goes to bed at 10.00pm so if the birth is after that time the public announcement will be left until the next day. Of course in the era of mobile phones and twitter one wonders whether such media delays can really hold out. 5 by Mark Hello Pankajdubey, Interesting observation on the Jupiter placements of UK monarchs. I hadn't noticed this before. James II was also the last Roman Catholic monarch to rule Britain. This is no accident. There has been a legal bar on a Roman Catholic being the British monarch or the serving monarch marrying a Roman Catholic since the passing of the Act of Settlement which was was passed over 300 years ago in 1701. PankaJdubey wrote: During his time England was Catholic. Actually, it was overwhelmingly protestant by this time. That is why having a Roman Catholic like James II as monarch was so unacceptable for the vast majority of English people at that time. The issue came to a head during James II reign and he was basically removed in a royal coup d'etat by the British politicians supporting the protestant William of Orange and Queen Mary who replaced James by military means. The virulent anti-catholic feeling in Britain at the time made it exceptionally difficult for a Catholic to hold the throne. Not least as the monarch was required to be head of the protestant Church of England. Following the arrival of William and Mary the so called 'Glorious Revolution' occurred in 1688 which led to the passing of the Bill of rights which laid down the foundations of constitutional rights in Britain. The Act of Settlement came later in 1701 and legally prevents a Roman Catholic from being King or Queen of Great Britain. The act also prevents a British monarch from marrying a Roman Catholic. The act was passed at this time because William and Mary had not produced an heir and there were public concerns a Catholic might ascend the throne again. Incredlibly, this is still the legal position in Britain today! It is of course a total anachronism. While Britain is increasingly a secular and/or multi-faith society the Act of Settlement has not been abolished because of the dramatic constitutional reform it will require. At present, the Sovereign is required to be Head of the Church of England , be in communion with the Church of England and must swear to preserve the established Church of England and the established Church of Scotland. The Sovereign must also promise to uphold the Protestant succession. http://www.royal.gov.uk/ThecurrentRoyal ... rview.aspx If the bar on Roman Catholics being monarch was lifted the disestablishment of the Church of England would be a legal necessity. Many now believe this is long overdue. Prince Charles long ago said he wanted to be 'Defender of Faiths' rather than take the traditional oath to be 'Defender of Faith' for the Church of England. Certainly, the Christian population of Britain is rapidly declining so it seems only a matter of time before the link between Church and Monarchy is finally severed. In the 2001 census 71% of British people described themselves as Christian while this had dramatically fallen to 58% in the 2011 census. Moreover about 9% of this nominal Christian population are Roman Catholic. Mark Last edited by Mark on Mon Jul 22, 2013 6:18 pm, edited 10 times in total.
