"Field Battles - The Technique"

To quote from a paper she gave to astrologers at Adelaide,
The ruler of the 1st house is the challenger; the ruler of the 7th receives the challenge
.
Having decided on the two planets that are in conflict the next step is to decide which of these is the strongest.
I can't say I really agree with the way it is written - the home team are surrounded by their supporters wishing them well etc. it is almost like their castle and the attackers are the incoming team.

Thanks, Firefly.

With a 75% strike rate, there must be a rule! :)
The ruler of the 1st house is the challenger; the ruler of the 7th receives the challenge
Sounds to me like the challenger is the underdog and therefore holds the Asc.

Hi

My understanding of Bonatti from Tractatus Sextus is that the querent is the ascendant and the enemy/adversary the seventh. Whether the querent is defending their own land or is proposing to attack another territory, they still remain the first house.

I'm not sure if Brady is using Bonatti, or her own technique.

I know that the Brady/Lehman method for sporting contests/castle besiegement techniques it is the challenger that is the 1st and the holder is the 4th

There seems to be some confusion here on how the Brady-Lehman Castle Besiegement method to predict sporting events was actually derived. Here is a link to Brady's article 'Guido Bonatti's methods of analysing horoscopes of conflicts and battles':

Here is another article co-authored by Bernadette Brady and Lee Lehman on the same subject: '12th Century Castle Besiegement in Sport'.

I experimented with this method in political astrology but haven't found it that practical for those kind of charts.
