In traditional astrology, it appears that education is assigned to the 9th house. With the advent of the industrial revolution, education of the masses had became more important. Since WWII both primary and secondary education is seen as a necessity for basic survival in industrial societies.

My question is: Is it astrologically correct to assign primary and secondary education to the 3rd house and post secondary and other higher education to the 9th house.

In researching this topic I found that D. Houlding and Sophia Mason assign primary and secondary education to the 3rd house. However, others contend that all education is assigned to the 9th house.

Whether one chooses the 3rd or the 9th how is the choice astrologically supported?

From John Frawley's Horary Textbook - 'Elementary school is 3rd house; anything above that level is 9th. If there is a distinction between higher and lower levels of education, the lower can always be given to the 3rd, the higher to the 9th.'
