Luck seems to imply that things are more mutable, and fate that things are set in stone? But practically, aren't they the same thing? If something happens to you, good or bad, it is fated to be so, but you will probably think of it as good or bad luck, which implies that you think there was a chance it might not have happened?

I wasn't sure which sub forum to post this question in. Maybe this speculation forum is best because luck is about the roll of a dice? Fate implies that dice has already been rolled and we are just experiencing it again in replay.

And then we have words like fortune and destiny. Do they have separate meanings?

I tend to look on something being fated as meaning that I can not affect the outcome. If it is a positively fated outcome then things will work-out well no matter what I do - or even if I do nothing to get a good outcome. If it is a negatively fated outcome then whatever I do, however hard I try, the outcome will be poor.

If something is luck (good or bad) then my involvement makes a difference. If I am having a good transit, for example Sun trine my natal Jupiter, then if I work with it, the outcome will be good - a bet on the horses might win. However, if I do nothing to work with the transit, then there will probably be little result.

If I am having a bad transit it will be difficult, whatever I do, to get a good outcome, but it is still possible. It will just need more effort.

I suspect that astrological indications are about luck, and the outcome not completely fated.
