Can anyone please point me to the definition of the following ayanamshas:
Larry Ely
Takra I
Takra II
Shill Pond

They are all options in Solar Fire 9, and one could take the values there, but I would like a reference to their original definition by the inventors.

We have recently added a lengthy list of ayanamsha choice in the free chart service of astro.com, but these are missing, as they are not yet defined in Swiss Ephemeris.

For Shil-Ponde, it is simply a variation of the traditional Sassanian, Ushashashi or Hipparchos values, i.e. zeta Piscium references. It is what is used in his book on nakshatras (Sagar Publishers, Delhi).

For the others, I don't know.

As I said yesterday, Shil-Ponde's value for the ayanamsa is variation of zeta Piscium value.

In his book, Hindu Astrology (Delhi, Sagar Publications, probably edited in 1937, with reprints in 1988, 1993, 1997, p. 61), he explains how he calculates it (which is a short cut as with many family recipes, cf. Raman):

- He substract the birth year from 522;
- he multiply the result by 50.1 seconds;
- and converts the results in degrees.

For instance, for 1937 he gives a value of 19?41, which is rounded.

That sounds like a traditional Indian procedure. I have seen similar.
