Collectio,prohibition or?

Hi,let me introduce myself. My name is Deeptiman, and working very hard horary concepts. An acquaintance asked this question:''WILL I GET MY ACADEMIC DEGREE?".Background:She is a medical doctor and in application for a pre-PHD.To start the study she needs approval for some authority.Date:30/05/2005 18:07 S?O PAULO-SP BRAZIL - LONG:46W38
lat:23s30
She is JUPITER,MOVING AWAY FROM a trine with Sun.But mercury will trine jupiter and after conjunc Sun.Sun is lord of nine, therefore represent the academic degree. If THIS is a COLLeCTION OF LIGHT THE RESPONSE WILL BE:YES YOU WILL(BECAUSE MERCURY REUNITE AGAIN JUPITER AND SUN! iF this is not,the response will be :No.I THINK THAT MERCURY lor of 10 represents the autorithy thatapprove or not the request.
Thank's folks

Hello deeptiman
First of all, what?s the background of the question ? why is she afraid whe can?t get her degree ? An enemy ? Too much competition ? Or she just want reassurance ?
Pluto is standing right in the ASC, afflicting her.
The authority (mercury) is in his own home, but combust and in a cadent house.
Moon is separating from a square to mercury, mercury also rules enemies, maybe some anterior disagreement ? moon conjunct fortuna.

I read your question many times, because I couldn?t see the collection you were asking about it. I think you got it confused... mercury is applying to the sun, Jupiter is applying to mercury, but mercury cannot collect both of them, because he is a fast planet !

My advice is you have to look for the MC ruler. The 9th house really isn?t going to do anything unless she get the approval !

Jupiter is in the triplicity of mercury, but mercury is in Jupiter?s exile, although it is in his face. Both of them are going to perfect a trine.

There are some statements against, but I think she can overcome them

I mean TRANSLATION of light

Thank's YUZURU for your kind attention.I mean ''translation of light",because Mercury applies first to J?piter(mercury-5,JUP-8) and after conjuncts Sun(9 degrees)(i look into the ephemeris).Yes,she has some enemy,i remember it...Maybe she is afraid and insecure and thinking turn back of her intentions, because JUPITER ,lord 1 was retro...

translation

I believe to have a translation, mercury would have to be applying to one of them, and sepparating from the other... I really don?t know if he is applying to both of them, it counts as translation.

I would ask Sue, Tom, Deb or Ben :brows

Hi Yuzuru, Anthony louis gives an example like this in "horay astrology plain and simple" - "an ilustrative example of more advanced concepts" in chapter "aspecs and orbs in horary".I don't know if this is a conventional approach according to tradition.

This is not a classic translation of light. But it fits the modern defintion as given by John Frawley in his last book on horary: "The faster planet may not have made the first aspect, so it applies to aspect one of the significators and then goes to aspect the other. This is common in situations where the initiating action has not been takes: 'If I apply for this job, will I get it?'".
Frawley actually allows both ways, considers as translations of light both situations.
In this case, the question is first "Will the person in authority approce the application for a pre-PhD?" and secondly "Will I get the academic degree?"
So, the events will unfold as asked: Mercury's trine to Jupiter (with some reception) might indicate that her application will be approved, and then Mercury's conjunction with the Sun might allow her to get her PhD.
This is a good example for a translation of light (the modern version of it), if we are to believe Frawley.

Although John Frawley doesn't consider it as necessary, as the ancient sources require it, the translating planet must be received by the first planet in one of its dignities. Here, Mercury is in Jupiter's face, the weakest of all dignities. Mercury is also in Jupiter's detriment, cadent and combust, although in its own sign. It is not in a position to perform the translation of light quite properly.

For instance, we see in this chart that Mercury conjuncts first Saturn's antiscion. That would make things go slowly.

But I'm positive that she will finally get her academic degree:
The turned house from the 9th, aka the 12th house, is signified by Mars and the Moon is applying to conjunct Mars.
The 12th house cusp is conjunct Zuben Elschemali, a benefic fixed star that gives success in sciences (of the nature of Jupiter and Mercury).

Hi Siraxi, thank's for your reply. Why do you consider 12 house as a turned 9 house?turned from where( house?) Maybe Jupiter in triplicity of Mercury helps a little...
all the best

Oh sorry, I missed some words, the 12th hosue is the turned 4th (end of story) from the 9th (academic degree saga) - it indicates therefore if at last she will get the academic degree she dreams at.
